Forest School Cyprus
At Forest School Cyprus, we believe that children thrive when they are given the freedom to discover, explore, and inquire. At this age, they need to experience, observe, think, consider, discuss, ponder, and wonder. Therefore, we intentionally design our environment to spark curiosity and create endless opportunities for exploration. Above all, we place their wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.
Furthermore, literacy and learning across all domains happen naturally—as children engage with their environment. Whether they are counting, sorting, grouping, observing, or problem-solving, these skills emerge organically through rich, hands-on experiences. In other words, learning happens by doing.
Nature, with its sense of wonder, ignites imagination and curiosity. As a result, exploration, adventure, and discovery unfold in the most authentic way.
At Forest School Cyprus, we follow a flexible curriculum—a balanced blend of free, nature-based play and thoughtfully organized activities. Inspired by forest schools in Scotland, Denmark, Georgia, and the USA, our approach nurtures the whole child.
We proudly foster and celebrate:
The happy child. The creative child. The free child. The autonomous child. The reflective child. The responsible child. The scientist child. The curious child. The moving child. The aware child. The connected child. The thinking child. The feeling child. The sensitive child. The strong child. The empowered child. The resilient child. The well-balanced child.
Simply put, Forest School Cyprus is a place where children grow—naturally, freely, and meaningfully.
Forest School Cyprus
The forest school is a continuation of and has evolved from the program “The School of Nature” which took place with the support of Frederick University and was inspired and led by the member of the Department of Education, Dr. Nicoletta Christodoulou (with the valuable contribution of Dr. Chrysanthi Katzi). It was organized from 2018 to 2019 with various groups of children in national forest parks of Nicosia and with the valuable support and cooperation of the Forestry Department. Today, with its new structure, the Forest School remains the first of its kind in Cyprus.
