Bee & Embroidery Museum
HISTORY
Our love of tradition is what strives us to collect and preserve objects that had otherwise been abandoned to deteriorate in time. The house of our great-grandfather Kyriakos Tsamillis, the home of many generations, was considered to be the most suitable place to host our collection.
The collection includes agricultural, livestock and apian tools, furniture and general household items. An enriched collection of lace and embroideries dating back to the 1880 is also exhibited as well as heritage artifacts. Overall, the museum exhibits over 1000 items distributed in six rooms.
Memories and images are brought to life, facilitating recognition and appreciation in younger generations. Simultaneously, through this process, the love, faith, patience and hope of our forefathers are kept alive – virtues which kept spirits strong, at times when hardships overcame bliss.
The Muesum is dedicated to the 1600 Cypriot soldier volunteers who participated in the victorious Balkan wars of 1912 and in particular, to our town-native, Iosif Tsamillis son of Kyriacos.
